Arquitecto is a unique  organization offering integrated project delivery services through collaborative resources led by architect Sergio Arteaga Gaddar. Mr. Gaddar has over thirty years of professional practice experience in residential, commercial, and institutional projects located primarily in Maine. Mr. Gaddar has been resposible for the planning, development, design, management and construction of numerous projects varying in style, scale, executive process, and complexity. He also posseses experience in identifying and evaluating historic, cultural and natural resources and opportunities in connection with comprehensive planning of healthy community growth and sustainable built-environment development in the public realm.

Sergio Gaddar, ARQUITECTO wide-range project portfolio encompasses: home improvement and small additions and renovations, custom-built houses, historic restoration, energy conservation and green solutions, tenant design/build redevelopments, mid-rise urban and suburban developments, large-scale complex facilities, waterfront and alpine resorts, community redevelopments, master planning housing, and collegiate campus planning and design. 

Sergio studied architecture (’76-’81 EMA) at La Salle University AC in Mexico City (ULSA); earning his professional degree (BArch) from the University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1988. He also has completed graduate studies in Ecology (’82), Urban Planning (’83), and Restoration of Historic Places (’84) at UNAM’s Faculty of Architecture ; and Project Management (’95), and Student Life: Residential Campus Planning and Design (’00) at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design; and American Planning Theory and History (’10), and American City/Town Design (’11) at USM’s Muskie School of Public Service in Portland, Maine.

Mr. Gaddar is a licensed architect in both countries, Mexico and the United States; a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Maine), and a founding member of the Maine Chapter of the US Green Building Council. He holds a LEED AP BD+C certification, and is a regular participant of professional, academic, and community activities, boards or advisory groups, including non-profit and educational organizations committed to create a sustainable future through responsible design.

Sergio is a former program sponsor of the AIA’s Sustainable Communities by Design- East Bayside project in Portland; and the Afghan Reconstruction School for Girls assisted program by Central Command-NATO in Kahbul, Afghanistan. Currently, Mr. Gaddar serves as an appointed member of the City of South Portland’s Economic Development Committee, and as a independent contributor to the Comprehensive Plan 2012-2022 sub-committee.
